Wilkes County is served by all major protestant denominations with more than 200 Protestant churches. There is also a Roman Catholic Chuch and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The majority of citizens are Protestants with the Baptist Churches having the most members. Ministers and priests of the local churches work together on community projects through the Wilkes Ministerial Association.
